A. Visa code

From 2015, the regulation about visa code was changed and the new code is as following:

Visa symbols

1. NG1 - Issued to members of delegations invited by the Secretary General of Vietnam’s Communist Party of, the President of Vietnam, the President of the National Assembly, the Prime Minister.

2. NG2 - issued to members of delegations invited by standing members of the Secretariat of the Vietnam’s Communist Party, Deputy President of Vietnam, Deputy President of the National Assembly, Deputy Prime Minister, President of Vietnamese Fatherland Front, Executive Judge of The Supreme Court, Chief Procurator of the Supreme Procuracy, State Auditor General; members of delegations at the same levels of Ministers, Secretary Generals of Provincial Communist Authorities, President of the People’s Committees of provinces.

3. NG3 - Issued to members of diplomatic missions, consular offices, representative offices of international organizations affiliated to the UN, representative offices of intergovernmental organizations and their spouses, children under 18 years of age, and housemaids during their term of office.

4. NG4- Issued to people who come to work with diplomatic missions, consular offices, representative offices of international organizations affiliated to the UN, representative offices of intergovernmental organizations, visitors of members of diplomatic missions, consular offices, representative offices of international organizations affiliated to the UN, and representative offices of intergovernmental organizations.

5. LV1 - Issued to people who come to work with units affiliated to Vietnam’s Communist Party; the National Assembly, the government, Central Committee of Vietnamese Fatherland Front, the People’s Supreme Court, the People’s Supreme Procuracy, State Audit Agency, Ministries, ministerial agencies, Governmental agencies, the People’s Councils, the People’s Committees of provinces.

6. LV2 - Issued to people who come to work with socio-political organizations, social organizations, Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

7. ĐT - Issued to foreign investors in Vietnam and foreign lawyers practicing in Vietnam.

8. DN - Issued to people who come to work with companies in Vietnam.

9. NN1 - Issued to Managers of representative offices or projects of international organizations and foreign non-governmental organizations in Vietnam.

10. NN2 - Issued to heads of representative offices, branches of foreign traders, representative offices of other foreign economic, cultural, professional organizations in Vietnam.

11. NN3 - Issued to people who come to work with foreign non-governmental organizations, representative offices, branches of foreign traders, representative offices of other foreign economic, cultural, professional organizations in Vietnam.

12. DH - Issued to people who come to study or serve internship.

13. HN - Issued to people who come to attend conventions or conferences.

14. PV1 - Issued to journalists who have permanent residences in Vietnam.

15. PV2 - Issued to journalists who come to work for a short period of time in Vietnam.

16. LĐ - Issued to people who come to work.

17. DL - Issued to tourists.

18. TT - Issued to foreigners that are parents, spouse, children under 18 years of age of the foreigners issued with LV1, LV2, ĐT, NN1, NN2, UNIVERSITY, PV1, LĐ visas, or foreigners that are parents, spouse, children of Vietnamese citizens.

19. VR - Issued to people who come to visit their relatives or for have other purposes.

20. SQ - Issued to people in the cases mentioned in Clause 3 Article 17 of this Law.

Visa duration

1. The duration of a SQ visa is not longer than 30 days.

2. The duration of a HN or DL visa is not longer than 03 months.

3. The duration of a VR visa is not longer than 06 months.

4. The duration of a NG1, NG2, NG3, NG4, LV1, LV2, DN, NN1, NN2, NN3, DH, PV1, PV2 or TT visa is not longer than 12 months.

5. The duration of a LĐ visa is not longer than 02 years.

6. The duration of a ĐT visa is not longer than 05 years.

7. When a visa is expired, its reissuance shall be considered.

8. The duration of a visa shall be at least 30 days shorter than that of a passport or international laissez-passer.

B. How to handle when the passport is lost?

Foreigners coming Vietnam for traveling or business purposes or other purposes unfortunately have unwanted breakdown:  Lost their passport. When this incident happens, passengers will be panic and anxious because the passport is a travelling and transportation documents and processing of other transactions and work in Vietnam.

So, how to handle and retrieve the passport that has been lost in Vietnam? This is the way we often guide our clients but we do not guarantee the lost passport can be retrieved.

1. The passport is lost because of robbery or has someone picked pocket on the road or crashed:

- Passengers can ask Vietnamese for typing and printing A4 sheets to stick on the wall or classified advertising on the roadside: crashed passport need to find urgently, on which specify the name , passport number, nationality, and give a reward to anyone who return the passport. The part of contact information, customers should leave it to Vietnamese, who are friends, receptionist…

- Ask Vietnamese for posting a status on Facebook about the case is lost passport with such information.
-  Report with local police in the area the passport is lost.

In case the passport is not found, and then what is the next step to handle?

- Go to the Embassy or Consulates to make new passport.
- After having the new passport, passengers need to refresh visa to exit, then they can enter Vietnam normally.

C. Apply and have visa on arrival done, but the schedule is changed and want to come earlier than the expected date on visa on arrival is not granted?

- Visa on arrival that we have done, can not change, in case the customer changes  schedule to Vietnam and want to come earlier,  please inform  us, we will make the new visa showing new  expected entry date for free for customers.

- If the information on visa is wrong because of customer’s error, we will also do it again for free.

Note: visa on arrival renewded policy for clients does not apply for citizenship coming from Middle East and Africa.

D. The way to handle overdue visa and the way to extend a Vietnam visa or make a new visa.

- Overdue visa is common for foreigners in Vietnam, when visa is overdue, foreigners need to process as the followings:
+ Contact our company immediately
+ Conduct to make the visa at once in order that overstayed dates can not extend more.
+ A foreigner will be punished because of overdue visa; fines depend on the number of overdued days.
In case of being overstayed their visas, they will have some difficulty in extending and issuing a new visa in Vietnam.

E. Can I make a temporary residence card for 2 years without a labor permit license?

- Our company can issue 2 –year temporary residence card for foreigners without a work permit license in Vietnam, the procedure is as follows:

-The original passport of person who need to make a temporary residence card.
- The information is up staying with the local police.
- Some samples of the form stamped and signed by the company as requested.
- Profile Photo
- The copy of business registration or   investment certificate, registration of notarized form or a stamp of company.
- Duration of temporary residence card: 10 working days.
- Temporary residence card without a work permit license only applies to companies with business registration in the following provinces.

F. How to handle when the temporary residence card is lost? How to do the new one?

When the temporary residence card is lost, fired ... foreigners need to process as follows:
- Make a report to the police about the loss of temporary residence card. Then, the local police will confirm.

-After that, foreigners precede visa in Vietnam in order to ensure compliance with the law.
- Next is to make the new temporary residence card.
Note: It is important for foreigners to confirm this with the local police.

J. Make a work permit lance without judicial record overseas, confirmed on 5 years experience working.

Profile granted a work permit license as follows:
- The form templates as required by the Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs.
- The written consent of the employer or city or province Industrial Park Management Board.
- Copy of Business Registration or sign model Registration, notarized investment certificate.
- If the person is authorized to sign the papers, there must be a copy of an authorized paper and a stamp of company.
- Judicial record in Vietnam.
- Health certificate.
- And other forms.
Time for work permit license can be up to 30 days.
